Opening day weekend against the brew crew. Opening day is April 7th this year and will kick off a 4 game series against the hated Milwaukee brewers. The Cubs and Brewers are in different contending universes, but attending a rivalry series is always fun. Obviously opening day is an event held on a pedestal and will always be a highly touted game for many, but the point of “As it Sits” is too find the diamonds in the rough and maybe help you save some time and money. With this being said, I’m going to skip opening day this season. Although ticket prices are very cheap compared to previous years, there is way better value of entertainment. The Brewers announced that Burnes will kick off their season against Kyle Hendricks. Steele was announced as the starter for game 2 and Stroman follows on Saturday. As it sits the projected matchup for Saturday’s game, that is cheaper than opening day on Thursday, is presumably going to be Stroman vs Peralta. Not saying that Hendricks vs Burnes won’t be good, I’m just saying that I’d rather watch Stromans Cubs debut on a Saturday for $10 bucks (stub hub) versus a Hendricks/Burnes matchup that we’ve seen before for much more money. As It Sits week 1: Cubs/Brewers April 8th.
